Pamela Kauten Biography
Pamela Kauten is the Founder and President of PEAK Connections, Inc.,
parent company of Florida CareerLINK. Florida CareerLINK was launched
nine years ago in Clearwater and is now the state’s top employment web
site. The Company distinguishes itself from competitors in this
increasingly crowded field by listing only local jobs from local
employers, in support of its mission to attract and retain the best
talent here in Florida.
Pam was born and raised in Wisconsin. A little over 20
years ago, when she was new wife and mother, her husband, Neil Kauten,
moved the family to Sarasota where he had secured a new job. Pam
decided to earn some extra income while raising the baby and started
selling Mary Kay cosmetics. To her surprise, she fell in love with
sales and soon became a regional sales director for the firm, driving
around Sarasota in her pink car. Soon after, she opened her own
cosmetics shop in Sarasota called Karisma with a K. Business was going
well when her husband uprooted the family once again and moved them to
Pinellas County. Pam closed the shop and thought about what to do next.
After transitioning to a very successful career in radio
with Jacor Communications (now Clear Channel), Pam and her husband Neil
launched Florida CareerLINK.com in 1997 with six employees. Florida
CareerLINK is now a leading recruiting services and software company
that develops and provides innovative recruiting solutions for local
employers. One of Pam’s two sons, Adam Kauten, has graduated college
and has joined Florida CareerLINK. He is charged with expanding the
firm’s presence into South Tampa Bay and is being groomed to carry on
the business his parents founded.
Pam is an active member of the TBTF Board of Directors, a
frequent advisor to local workforce boards, an instructor on human
resources and recruiting topics, and a mentor to other entrepreneurs.
She is also passionate about the morale of her team at Florida
CareerLINK – since these employees are her extended family. She is
constantly taking the team on trips – both local and national – to help
cement the bonds that make her group of ten such a happy and dynamic
workforce.
