Florida CareerLINK President Sits on Panel at Enterprise Florida Strategic Planning Session
Clearwater, FL (July 12, 2006)
– Florida CareerLINK president and co-founder Pamela Kauten spoke
before a group of regional group of business and government leaders
yesterday on the topic of economic factors impacting Tampa Bay’s
employment market.
She appeared on a panel addressing regional education and
workforce issues along with Renee Benton, president of Tampa Bay
Workforce Alliance, and Dr. Gary Norris, superintendent of schools for
Sarasota County. The panelists spoke at the Tampa Bay Partnership and
Enterprise Florida’s Roadmap to Florida’s Future Strategic Plan for Economic Development Forum at Franklin Templeton in St. Petersburg.
Kauten cited a dearth of affordable housing stock, lower wages (in
comparison to other U.S. regions) for highly skilled workers, and
talent poaching attempts by other cities and industries as significant
threats to Tampa Bay businesses seeking top candidates. Her remarks
were quoted in a St. Petersburg Times article about the event in the
July 12 edition of the newspaper’s business section.
